If you find the new rules and regulations associated with the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) daunting or confusing, you’re not alone.

You’re also not without great resources that can help you master MACRA.

The ASA website offers a growing number of resources on issues related to MACRA.

On Tuesday morning, an expert-led session, “MACRA: Total Transformation of Medicare Payment” will help prepare attendees for the looming transformation of Medicare payment that, when rolled out in 2019, will prove to be as significant as the introduction of RBRVS or the hospital DRG system.

Sessions and speakers include:

  • “Overview of Medicare Payment Reform,” Alexander A. Hannenberg, M.D., Newton-Wellesley Hospital
  • “Electronic Health Records Under MACRA,” James Moore, M.D., UCLA Medical Center
  • “MACRA: ASA’s Support and Resources for Members,” Sharon Merrick, ASA Director of Payment and Practice Management

The speakers will offer guidance on quality reporting, practice improvement, electronic record requirements and cost profiling. Upon conclusion of the session, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the emerging structure of alternative payment models available to anesthesiologists.

You will also become better acquainted with the resources ASA is providing and will continue to provide its members as the transition to MACRA continues.

“Helping our members successfully transition to MACRA is at the very top of ASA’s priority list,” Merrick said. “We’ve created workgroups and committees dedicated to this crucial subject. We hope you can make it to this session — to learn what we’re doing now for you and what we’re going to do in the future as 2019 approaches.”
