ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2019 opened to a packed schedule of education sessions, workshops and distinguished speakers. In these early days of the meeting, the ASA Daily News staff asked the question:

I come every year. It’s a good place to know the research and the trends, and understand what clinical practices have changed. My role is that we need to understand the trends to educate internally and to prepare for the future.

Twenty-five years ago, I started an anesthesiology residence in Monterrey, Mexico, and I never saw anything in the school about anesthesia. It’s so different to others. I needed to see something new. Everything is new, every day, in anesthesia now. When I started, all the anesthesia was in one book. But now you have to read that amount every day, and all the papers in the world about anesthesia.

It’s an international conference, the biggest conference in the world. It’s my first time and I wanted to see the quality of the lectures. The exhibition hall is massive as well. So that was the main attraction–the biggest occasion for anesthesia.
